The Face Behind The Letters...
I’m Katie Rhee — a Korean American artist born and raised in New York. In December 2021, I found myself in a difficult season, and calligraphy became my creative outlet to help me. I wish I could say I found calligraphy, but I honestly believe it found me.
Looking back, I now realize that little signs had been there all along — like when I practiced my handwriting in school just for fun, or when I hand-painted my college graduation cap with calligraphy and florals. My uncle gave me a traditional calligraphy kit as a souvenir from a trip and I couldn't figure out how to use it, but my sister and I would pretend to write with it all the time. I didn't know it at the time, but that kit planted the calligraphy seed in my mind as something I want to try one day.
When I finally picked up a calligraphy pen years later, everything just… clicked. For the first time, I felt like I’d found the creative space I was always meant to be in, and everything finally made sense.

I specialize in live calligraphy, engraving, and heat foiling for luxury events, brand activations, and curated gifting moments across New York City and Long Island. What I love most about my work is that is helps people feel seen, celebrated, and special.
In a city full of millions, I know what it’s like to feel like just another face in the crowd. That’s why I love what I do — every time I hand-letter a name, engrave a custom detail, or foil a message in gold, I’m telling someone: “You matter.” And when I get to witness moments of joy at events, it makes everything I do worth it.
